Essay for Final

Mashable is the largest independent online news site dedicated to covering digital culture, social media and technology. With more than 20 million unique monthly visitors, Mashable has one of the most engaged online news communities. Founded in 2005, Mashable is headquartered in New York City with an office in San Francisco.

The intended audience of this website is for those want to see comical things related to all kinds of media. That can range from 14-55 (anyone who uses a computer). They are definitely reaching the intended audience. The site is filled with links to funny slide shows put together of media, including social media. You can tell by the twitter and facebook icons on the top left of the page. This means it is popular enough to have gained sponsorship for the site. Facebook "likes" are all over the page.

The strengths of the page are few. All of the top stories are in plain sight and easy to access. The links go right to where they claim to. You can sign in with any twitter or facebook account and "like" or "tweet" with one click. All of their news backing is provided by reliable news sources like ABC news, CNN, etc.

The weaknesses are annoying and follow you all over the website. One word: Advertisement. They flood open page and are used as "breaks" between each of the stories. It is also highly clumped together with all the information on the site. All the stories and ads are very closely and randomly placed throughout the website.
